Beloved Guardian, Screen print, 2003, 20 x 15 inches

Beloved Guardian uses text drawn from two sources, a passage from the Toni Morrison novel Beloved that depicts terror against Black people in the US in the 1870s and an article from the London Guardian newspaper that describes a US bombing in Afghanistan. In the artwork, the two disparate sources merge almost seamlessly into one.
