Poster to download for action. Link at bottom of page
Police murder, terror and repression have to stop. Mass incarceration has to stop. No more Mike Browns or Eric Garners.
Inspired by the October 22, National Day of Protest Against Police Brutality, Repression and the Criminalization of a Generation, I’m calling on people in NY to come be part of an artist led action Wednesday, October 22nd, 2014. Download and print out a color copy of my “Danger Police in Area” poster (link below). Cut the bottom so you have a diamond poster. Make your way to the Times Square police station at 43rd & Broadway. Listen for whistles at 3pm sharp. We will stand displaying the poster in front of the police station. We will mark that area for the danger the police pose to the people.
Rain or shine. (Because of threat of rain, laminating the poster at Staples/Office Max/FedEx Office for $2 would be a good idea.)
Tweet if. Post it. Bring your friends.
I made this artwork shortly after Amadou Diallo was killed over 15 years ago. It is unfortunately even more relevant today.
Hope to see you on October 22, 2014.
If you aren’t in New York, feel free to organize similar actions in your city.
I’ve done similar art interventions in the past and know that these actions are important lasting additions to people fighting for justice. Links here to: Our Grief is Not a Cry for War, Not in Our Name, and Sign of the Times/Danger Police in Area.
